Brasstown Valley Inn | Celebrate the Holiday in the Mountains

This Thanksgiving, like holiday celebrations in the past, I joined my sister’s family in the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina. Cold evenings watching the sunsets over the mountain vistas reminds me of the amazing landscapes throughout our country. Spending time with my family reminds me of what I have to be thankful for, especially when it was the first time I had seen my oldest nephew, a US Marine, since he came home from his recent deployment. And I also enjoyed spending time with my younger nephew before he leaves for college. Yes, lots to be thankful for. But what I really wanted to share is how we spent Black Friday.

An annual tradition for my sister, we went to Brasstown Valley Inn in Young Harris, GA for their Thanksgiving Craft Fair and Luncheon Buffet. The assortment of American crafts was great from jewelry to homemade soaps to decorative crafts and more. But again, that’s not what I really wanted to share. What I want to share is the amazing resort itself.

A two hour drive from our area, the Brasstown Valley Inn & Resort, the winner of multiple Certificates of Excellence from Trip Advisor, offers an assortment of activities including golf, horseback riding, and the 7,500-square-foot Equani Spa, inspired by the area’s native Cherokee people, serves up, offering spa treatments and more.  The Inn itself is what you would expect of a mountain lodge with its massive fireplace in the main lobby and wrap around decks overlooking the incredible property and views.  And there are also several secluded cottages for families and groups seeking a more private, intimate atmosphere.
