Celebrate National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day Around West Cobb

Grilled Cheese sandwiches can also be known as comfort food. Paired with tomato soup, they are a lunch favorite throughout the US. It has even created a new crop of restaurants exclusive to this food favorite including Tom+Chee, The Melt, The American Grilled Cheese Kitchen, and many more. Tom+Chee even found investor support from Barbara Corcoran on SharkTank. Foodies have taken the grilled cheese sandwich to a whole new level. But of course, there’s still the original. April is National Grilled Cheese Month and April 12th is National Grilled Cheese Day.

History

Economics of food are responsible for several favorites. So it is no surprise that the modern version of the grilled cheese sandwich originated in the US in the 1920s when inexpensive sliced bread and American cheese became easily available. Over the years, it has become a menu staple in diners and many local restaurants. There’s even an entire website dedicated to the history of grilled cheese.
